The Pinnacle
Ten-thousand-dollar sound from a five-thousand-dollar build. No output transformer between the 300Bs and your speakers…just two channels that measure like one.
It doesn’t look like ten thousand dollars. That was the client’s call…function over finish, so the attention went where the meter reads.
Most amplifiers hide behind an output transformer. This one doesn’t get to. Four 300Bs per channel drive the speaker directly, so balance isn’t a nicety…it’s the whole job. With a matched quad installed, left and right land on the same rails and the same phase-inverter and gain-stage supplies, to the volt. Wall draw within 1.6% channel to channel. Every output-stage ballast reading repeats left to right within six millivolts.
The design is Transcendent Sound’s. The kit is discontinued. The bench sheet is ours. The original architecture is intact; the changes are only in the parts. 105°C filter caps on the high-voltage rails. 5A Schottkys and 8,200µF Nichicons feeding the 300B filament regulators. A 10-turn precision bias pot. The driven-side plate load tuned for drive symmetry between the positive and negative banks. 2.2µF / 630V polypropylene coupling to the 300Bs. And a neon pilot…because a 300B glows too politely to tell you it’s on.
The price is our opinion. Everything else is a bench sheet. Built for one client…you found the case file.
